Parting Shots

Lazy lie in and alfresco toasties in the rain with free chocolate cake from Clachtoll Stores for being wet and happy ( see, even when we don't order cake, it appears before us). On to encounters with highland coos and seaweed in Culkein Stoer, stream wading and wave watching at Stoer beach and wrapping things up, the traditional condemned "last day of the holiday, sigh" family slap up meal at Lochinver. The only day forecast for rain then obligingly turned into a dry and bright, clear sky, crimson sunset and rainbow streaked evening.

Arrived back at Clachtoll to our lovely lodgings and the refrain of Dark Island being played by a lone piper down at the beach. Timing is everything. Lovely wee moment. And to walk off that over indulgent meal, Dave and I headed to Stoer Lighthouse, where we were rewarded with the most beautiful rainbow way south over the Coigach and a sunset that lit up the faces of the night's gaggle of international backpackers...crazy but happy European cycling backpackers setting up their tents on the cliff edges.

It will be a challenge sitting in an office next week, I'd be lying if I said otherwise.
