A favourite spot - Glenfinnan the glen where, in August 1745, Bonnie Prince Charlie rallied the clans and raised his standard on the shore of Loch Sheil, events that heralded the start of the Jacobite rising of 1745. Eight months later it all came to a disasterous end with defeat at Culloden.
