Top of the Hill

Chris and I succeeded in riding all the way to the top of the hill at Silver Falls State Park 56 miles up into the Cascades foot hills.
We thought the ride back down to the start would be the easiest part of our century ride.
Then 76.8 miles out... the 100F heat got us.
Signs of dehydration including headache, and nausea with significant muscle cramping despite heroic efforts with our water bottles. We rode in the sag wagon for the last 24 miles
A very good decision it was over 100F all the way back.
We recovered rapidly once we got off the bikes and out of the sun.
We accomplised all of the difficult ride sections successfully.
It was a beautiful and satifying ride that tested our limits!
We'll go out again tomorrow on the 50 mile ride to finish up the fund raiser weekend for multiple sclerosis research.
