Cambo House and Gardens

This morning we all set off across the Tay bridge, through the pretty little town of St Andrews and along the coast to Cambo House where we spent a lovely hour or two wandering through the rather unkempt and rather magic walled garden. It was full of wonderful flowers and some quite impressive veggies - the globe artichokes were huge.
In the evening we packed up an enormous picnic and set off for a music festival at a National Trust property called Barry Mill. What a wonderful setting, a beautiful old stone mill in a tiny glade which accommodated about 200 people. We sat under an old apple tree with friends and listened to some interesting music. The best was a group of women called the Bangshees, this was a drumming group and everyone was up clapping to the rhythm. I also enjoyed a duo called Right Charlies who were quite political and the audience obviously agreed with them and were stoutly nationalistic - l have no probs with that.
By 10 o'clock we all had our coats on and got a taxi home - new alcohol laws in Scotland mean that you cannot have even one pint and drive - will have to pick up the car tomorrow morning.
A great day.
