Portable electricity

Does anyone else think that storing electricity in little pieces of mixed metal like this is magic? It's not that long ago that you would have been burnt at the stake for suggesting such things were even possible and yet now we take it for granted - just like flicking a switch and having a light come on; a kettle boil or a TV flicker into action!
