Bishops and barons

To celebrate the Magna Carta anniversary a series of quilts has been made, and I went to see them this morning in Guildford Cathedral. There are four magnificent portrayals of medieval history and four panels showing people who have contributed to justice over the centuries. When they are put together the reverse side shows a pixillated map of the River Thames, with all the quilters' names on the patchwork blocks. The history panels are remarkable and illustrate history from the death of Richard the Lionheart through the whole of John's reign to his death. The workmanship is in exquisite detail.
The quilts are at Guildford just until August 8. Google Magna Carta Quilt to find out more. I have posted extra pictures.
