VIOLENT STORM ROARS THROUGH AT 5AM

We were awakened to the sound of thunder. We got up to close the umbrella on the deck and found a violent storm headed our way. There was significant lightning which flashed so brightly and frequently that it appeared to be someone taking photos with a strobe light. The wind whipped the tree around like a twig! There was thunder, lightning, hail, wind, rain and lots of debris spinning around. It did not last too long but it was quite intense.

The aftermath was like a hurricane had passed through. Except it had only lasted less than 30 minutes before moving east! There were tree limbs and branches everywhere. The grill on the deck and the chairs were all moved around. The flag was broken out of the flag holder. The planter in the deck was on the floor as were some plants. Downstairs in the yard, all the flower pots were upturned, lots of debris all over the yards. Thankfully, we have good neighbors who, offered to help and Ginny came to help sweep. Don came to help as well! Vinny said he would take care of the branches that had gotten hung up in the tree overhanging his yard. Gail will take care of the cherry tree limb that is hanging over the fence. The only real damage to the house was that the flashing on the peak at the front of the house was ripped off and laying in the backdown neighbor's yard. We will have to have that replaced!

It took us all day from about 8am until 5pm to clean up the yard and the road.
