Brooklands lagoon

We walked from Spencer Park to the Waimakariri River mouth via the walkway through the dunes and back along the beach.  Since the earthquake the track that used to run along beside the lagoon has in many places been moved up into the dunes.  This is because the water level has risen substantially, and much of the old track is now flooded.  There are usually birds on the beach, but not much visible on the lagoon from this track, just a few shags and black swans.  We saw black-backed and red billed gulls, white fronted terns, oyster catchers and banded dotterels along the beach.
