Frank

I was down in the far West today in Castletownbere library. While I was there a man walked in and introduced himself to Dorothy the librarian and myself as Frank. He hadn't been back in the town since 1969 but had been born and raised there and his mother had run the very first library there 65 years ago, just after the second world war, from her sitting room. The library van would come once a month back then with a few boxes of books and take away some older ones. At the age of four he became probably the youngest staff member they had as he was enlisted by his mother to choose the books for the children. It left him with a lifetime love of reading and language. He speaks six languages and lives in Miami Beach with his Hungarian wife who popped in too. A lovely serendipitous encounter. Made my day.
