Life is mean I know what I've seen
Your darling kitty who looks so pretty
So lovely to see when she purrs on your knee
Sits in the trees playing with bees
So kind and so soft sitting aloft

But she's waiting to harrow the next dumb sparrow
Who gets too close and becomes comatose
And drawn near her claws stumbles and falls
Feathers all torn and blood on the lawn
Life is mean not a comforting dream
