Painting the town red

There are three bars all withing spitting distance (literally) in William Street.

A few weeks ago someone was telling me that they are reresentative of the Edinburgh class system. At the bottom end you've got The Melville (seen here) with the old guys drinking OVD Rum and Coke all day with a few local ASBOs thrown in, then next door you've got Berts Bar for the middle class new town set and then opposite you have Teuchters for the cognoscenti.

Not sure about that analysis but obviously The Melville is attempting to raise its game by changing the manky old red colour for....slightly less manky red.

It's a small pub but I wouldn't want to paint it.
