Red Soldier Beetle

I don't usually spot bugs and beasties when I'm out and about but today after cycling into Elie Estate and going for a bit of a walk I spotted this wee guy.  A quick Google search and voilà .. it's a common red soldier beetle.
The extra is an exploding thistle head just waiting for the wind to come and whisk away the seed heads.
