Hitchin Lavender

Today a friend and I travelled to Cadwell Farm, Ickleford, where Hitchin Lavender is based. Lavender is the main draw for the public to visit but they now grow Sunflowers and have a wild flower area. We arrived around midday and there were only a few spaces left in the car park. As schools have broken up there were lots of Mums and their children.

There is an admission fee of £4.50 and this includes a large paper bag and a pair of scissors to cut your own bag of lavender. We decided to photograph first and cut our lavender on the way out. The café was really crowded when we finished so rather than have a longish wait for food we visited one of the local pubs for a very nice seafood lunch. We had plenty of sunshine and some cloud so it was ideal. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Extras show a general view of the farm and a couple of images from the wild flower area – I do quite like the cornflower.
