Neither Maidens Nor A Castle

Dorset: Day 8...our last day.
After an early start and pack up we headed into Dorchester for the day. We went to Maiden Castle, where there were neither maidens or a castle..but a very large hill and lots of sheep as it was in fact the remains of a iron age hill fort dating from 600BC.

We then went into Dorchester itself and visited the museum. It was an interesting place with lots of impressive fossil remains and a section dedicated to local author Thomas Hardy, all set in a very impressive Victorian building.

Thank you for your lovely responses to all my holiday blips, especially to yesterdays blip that means it is currently on page one of popular and I am chuffed to bits.
