La Sagrada Familia

Today was a day all about Antonio Gaudi and his architecture.

This morning we had tickets to visit La Pedrera or Casa Mila as it is also known. We have visited before but really love the wacky roof.

This afternoon we visited the La Sagrada Familia which is probably the only Gaudi building we have never seen close up. Given the outside is still being finished I was expecting the inside to be a building site so my expectations were very low. However, on entering the basilica it is absolutely overwhelming. The height of the columns and the ceiling, the stained glass windows that project the colours of the rainbow into the space (but you don't realise from the outside that there are any windows, let alone stained glass ones).

It was absolutely magnificant and I am sure I spent the entire time with my mouth hanging open. We also went up to the top of the Passion Tower which great views over the city and a very long climb down the stairs.

Dinner at Cera23, highly recommended on TripAdvisor and didn't disappoint.
