Red damselfy

After a rainy morning we had a blink of sunshine this afternoon so I headed out.

This Red Damselfly provided a good target but I couldn't get close enough with the macro lens so had to use my 40 - 150 zoom. I also used too low and fstop for the depth of this beastie, oh well and it posed so nicely.

Extra shot is of some Cinnabar moth caterpillars, they are always found on ragwort but usually on sandy soils near beaches so we don't often see them here, I was pleased to have a go of my macro lens, again an increased fstop would have been better I think.

Their bright colours serve to warn birds from eating them although I don't know if they are poisonous or just pretending.
