It's usually a good idea...

... to read instructions.

We took a very long, and ostensibly scenic, rail journey from Adelaide to Melbourne - a full 11 hours on a rickety rail line in a carriage that needed a serious upgrade into the 21st century.

Probably the most excitement was visiting the on board toilet. I pressed the exterior green button to activate the electronic sliding door. Unfortunately the lady occupant had not read the instructions to press the lock button. Within seconds her bare rear came into view accompanied by a rather hysterical scream. I'm not sure which of us found the experience more psychologically disturbing.

There was no doubt that the rest of the carriage - largely comprising pensioners - found the incident highly amusing (some actually clapped).

A little later, Gary plucked up the courage to use the facilities without incident. But coming back along the carriage aisle, a fellow passenger stopped him to ask when he would be coming round to take orders for lunch (presumably because he was clearly one of the few passengers still of working age!).

Apart from these two incidents, the journey was rather tedious with views of passing rain, grass, trackside graffiti and more than a few rainbows. Some extras of fellow travellers and a rainbow.
