Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier with lenticular cloud.  Rainier isn't always visible from the Portland area so it was cool so see it this morning from Sherrard Point on Larch Mountain.

We woke up and decided a visit to Larch Mountain was the thing to do, we've not been in a while and I'd also got my Sony camera back from being cleaned and I wanted to test that the sensor was really, really clean.  As you can see, yes, it is!

It was a cool morning and there were some clouds hanging about but we could clearly see Mount Rainier, Mount Saint Helens and Mount Adams.  Looking in the other direction Mount Hood was swathed in cloud and Mount Jefferson wasn't visible at all because of lingering cloud cover.

Larch Mountain is an extinct volcano and is in the perfect spot to view all of these other active/potentially active volcanoes in this part of the Cascades.  It's pretty high up so I don't like to stay there long, even though the view point is fenced in, especially when it's crowded as I get a little wiggy when it comes to heights.  :-)

Extras are of the drive up Larch Mountain and of the views.  Mount Saint Helens in the volcano with the least amount of snow on it.
