The Redbrick

When I applied to Newcastle University many years ago I'm not sure I even knew I was applying to a Redbrick or what that meant. I applied to Newcastle because it was in Newcastle. Now that I'm working in the competitive world of academia I have some understanding of what that means but if I knew then, what I knew now, would I have applied to Newcastle because it was a Redbrick? Definitely not. Would I have still applied because it was in Newcastle? Definitely.
