Hearts & Balls

I was asked to take some pictures at a charity fund-raiser for injured rugby players tonight. There are injuries in every sport - rugby is no different and occasionally the injuries are serious. This event helps to raise money which goes directly to the greatest need.

I have still to get details of the names (learning point) but this lad had taken an impact which resulted in his neck being broken. The girl pictured was the physiotherapist on the touchline when it happened and she helped to stabilise him. They're laughing because they couldn't decide who the flowers were for.

There were several other stories including a young soldier who loved his rugby but his career has been cut short when he lost both legs in an explosion in Afghanistan. He still considers himself to be lucky as his friend died and that is what spurs him on.
