Wild Wednesdays at Avebury.

The National Trust are doing a great job of encouraging children to get outside and try different things. Throughout the Summer holidays, Avebury are hosting Wild Wednesdays - a chance to join the Avebury rangers for fun in the farmyard. Today they were doing Cooking on a Campfire. Spirals of bread dough, rolled out thin and then wrapped around a long stick and cooked over an open fire.
Harry wasn't sure about joining in until he realised that you got to eat the hot bread stick at the end. Then he was completely up for it! Having watched a few charred offerings being munched on, he cooked his bread stick with great concentration and care, was kind enough to offer half to me (yum!) and savoured the remainder as we walked along the upper boundary around the stones.
He liked the hot "Harry-cooked" bread so much we whizzed back for another go before heading home. The rangers were very amused by our return. And this time round, I was only allowed a small end of the bread stick.
The extras show the bread being cooked and the final result!
