Cool Place on a Hot Day

We made the return journey to the tax office, eating this time in a restaurant in Figeac itself.  We could only get parked at the top of the hill, and so made the perilous journey on foot down through steeply sloping narrow streets into the old town.  Which was fine.  But the climb back up after lunch, in 34C and full sun, was a test of post prandial stamina.  We failed it.  And near the top slipped into the delicious coolth of this impressive church.  As Janice said:  "Isn't it wonderful that those mediaeval builders thought to install air-conditioning in all their churches?"

This time the tax office was open, and a confused-looking fonctionnaire gave up trying to understand the peculiarities of my labyrinthine finances and stamped all my double taxation forms without further question.
