Hong Kong: Galloping

Hong Kong International Airport surprises again (see 10 July blip) as we gallop from arrivals back to Shenzhen on the mainland.

Based on Xu Beihong's 1942 'Six Galloping Horses' painting, this installation was drawn from a project where over 10,000 young people decorated smaller papier-mâché horses, some of which were then selected to feature with the six fiberglass models decorated by local artists and celebrities.

The official name?  'The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Jockey Club "Ten Thousand Galloping Horses, United With One Heart" Installation Art and Education Project'.  Must have been a big T-shirt!
