An Unkindness of Ravens

The bees are back

It felt warmish in the sun, though I don't think the temperature got much above 14ºC, but I was very surprised to see a few tiny native bees on the rosemary and photinia flowers – the first I have seen since Autumn. They must have thought it was warm. They disappeared when the sun went in though, back to whatever cosy spot they have been hiding in all winter.

I think this is a Lasioglossum bee.

We went to see the Grimethorpe Colliery Band play last night, so that son S could see some professional euphonium players in action. He wasn't disappointed – they, and the whole band, were excellent. I think he'd like to join a brass band!
