Between fen and mountains

Grasshopper

The chirrupings of grasshoppers and cigales are the unmistakeable sounds of the south of France.  However, they are far more easily heard than seen.  I must have looked strange trying to track this one down as it jumped away each time I got near.  Today is a bank holiday but all the stalls were at the market as the village enjoys its last really busy weekend of the summer.  Still, I did manage to find a table with friends at one of the cafés on the square.  The rest of the day will be taken up with finishing the excellent eclectic history, 'The discovery of France' by Graham Robb and watching the France v England World Cup warm up game.
