Apres le deluge

I was down at the ferry in Colintraive this morning picking up Cllr Isobel Strong from the boat and  - waiting for her to arrive - I got talking to Danuta Steedman and one of her neighbours about the deluge on Monday.

Cathleen and I were in Edinburgh on that day and there were a couple of very heavy showers as we drove down by  Loch Lomond but  in Cowal there was a thunderstorm accompanied by prolonged  torrential rain which created runnels in the track  leading to  our house, but completely washed away this roadway which goes  to Andy MacIntyre's farm.   You can see some of the grush and stones  still by the roadside but you can also see where holes, gouged by the force of the water,  have had to be patched.

There is a video of the incident and  int it you can see water shooting out of the drains and running like a river down towards the pier.

Today was meant to be a sunny day, but we had showers too, confirming that this summer remains - at times literally - a washout.
