"The Last of the Many"

Today in London the 70th anniversary of VJ Day was celebrated. This included a flight pass by a Hurricane, Typhoon and Dakota. A short BBC news report can be seen here.

The Hurricane, 'PZ865/EG-S', is called 'The Last of the Many' being the very last one made of 14,533. It was retained by Hawker until the 1970's.

It is now operated by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and carries the colours of 34sqn South East Asia Command. It is thus fitting it lead the flight pass on this day.

I didn't go into London to see the celebrations. Living where I do I tend to have Spitfires etc fly over my house as they go in and out of Biggin Hill. This was the second of three flight passes it made this afternoon.
