Waltzing

This painting was done by a 15 year old boy who is profoundly deaf and who has attended the Tony Hawks Centre for children with special needs for a course of various therapies, including music and art. It is his interpretation of what waltzing must be like. Wow!
Playing the Moldovans at Tennis by Tony Hawk tells the bizarre story of why he travelled to Moldova and how he finally broke through the barriers of frustration and disappointment to become an unlikely champion of the people here.
The centre he has set up is a light, bright, attractive space with young and dedicated staff. There is a hydrotherapy pool ( the volunteers had brought out dozens of swim nappies so more children can enjoy exercising in the water heated to 35*C even in winter), a speech therapy room, a physiotherapy studio, an occupational therapy room and an amazing multi-sensory room. 600 children benefit each year. Good on you, Tony!
