Pheonix United Mine

We spent the day walking around Minions, covering about 8 miles in all. We started with a short walk to the Hurlers (a circle of standing stones) and then went up to the Cheesewring Quarry to see the Cheesewring Tor. Later on in the morning, we visited the engine house of the Pheonix United Mine, a disused 19th century copper and tin mine. It's also the setting for the early books of the Retallick saga by E.V. Thompson.
In the afternoon, we visited some of the quarries on the other side of the village and walked up Caradon Hill.
Our stay in the Cheesewring Hotel has been great, but we are moving on tomorrow.
