Inside Diamond

This is a section of the storage ring at the Diamond Light Source synchrotron. The storage ring is an electron accelerator, maintaining an orbit of electrons used to generate x-rays. There's a great website explaining what goes on here, here. Today was a public open day, we gave people tours of the machine and told them a little of what we do. Get all sorts of people coming to these things, it's great talking to people who have all kinds of questions, and who are genuinely interested in what we do! (Or are good at pretending.)
