perlan

i did not wake up at a........ good time............ this morning.............................
einir and i went to perlan, which is this giant dome structure (it looks like a pearl, hence the name) on top of this giant artificial hill which is used for water storage (i think it's like a water tower.... but underground). anyway, it's the highest point in reykjavík, and you can see around the entire city and kópavogur and hafnafjörður which are suburbs to the south. and most importantly, you can see all of the crazy mountains and volcanoes which are begging to be hiked!


inside of perlan is a very very very fancy restaurant that rotates. it's wild. two hours and it does 360 degrees and you can see all of everything! so be sure to eat slowly if  you go to perlan. and be sure that you're rich.


later, we went down the hill, which is like, the only place with real trees in reykjavík, to the shore where there is a really nice path. spent a lot of time looking for shells and critters in the rocks.


anyway!!!! this picture doesn't at all capture how beautiful the grey of the ocean was, and also, how beautiful the drab colors were. there was an island/peninsula which was covered in beautiful grass which was a sort of mustard color, and then the few houses had bright red roofs.
