I love this Hawthorn tree, it's a special tree for a few people that visit this remote valley, where a waterfall flows from a lake half way up the mighty Hungry Hill, on the Beara Peninsula. Offerings in the form of charms and ribbons have been tied to it's branches, wishes have been made, today I made one too. The top of the mountain remained covered in mist so not good for climbing, which had been our intention, see extra photos. We climbed up out of the valley for the views which were spectacular, despite the cloud. Back to the cottage of friends for mugs of tea, a hearty supper and a fire to warm us all up!
