Learning day by day

Delighted!

We have talked about re-doing Carys's room for a while, but her heading in to Year 4 and the looming increase in homework and her ability to be distracted by everything and anything when working in the kitchen, forced our hand slightly. So since finishing school she has been sleeping in the study. While we were away her room was decorated in the colours of her choice, other than that she has known nothing about what we have done. We have discussed beds and mid sleepers and high sleepers but she was aware that our ceilings are quite low and that a high sleeper might not be an option.

So what she saw when she opened her eyes (and what Mummy and Daddy have been working away at these past few evenings) was a white high sleeper, new duvet cover, high shelf for her light, drink, clock and book, a huge desk under the bed with drawers beside it, a red beanbag and the red desk chair she has been craving!
There was also her faithful doll's house where her Sylvannian's reside.

I loved her reaction and that of Will, who has been in on every step and somehow hadn't revealed a thing! Once she had explored everything she plonked herself on her bean bag and said "I don't know how to thank you!" Obviously that was more than enough!
