Contemplating The Long Journey Home

... and so the remarkable journey of the Swallow begins!

Our Swifts have pretty much all gone. I've not seen one here for about a week now.

The Swallows will be off soon, and in less than four weeks they will all be gone apart from the odd straggler!

It is utterly amazing to think the little bird, who was sat contemplating that long journey on the wire outside my garden tonight will soon be in Africa.

The wonders of migration eh! As the summer birds leave, so the wintering wildfowl have started to arrive.

Only birders get excited about the end of summer! ;o)
