Pop-Up Placemaking

This is the large mural on the east side of the UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) Thrift building along Fairmount Ave. 
Yesterday the outer border of red was painted. It will end up being only a line edge on the outside of the quilt mural. All that aqua you see will end up being only the grid lines and the squares. 
It's just easier to paint a huge swath of colour, then quickly lay down the tape where needed. The excess will be painted over as the painting evolves.
Today most of the volunteers were assisting the public in making and painting their stencils on the smaller mural squares on the other side of the building in the alley, while a small group were taped the grid (representing the "Quilt of City Heights") and squares* (representing  individuals of City Heights).

*note the letters C for City and H for Heights that we will conceal into the mural artwork:
