Edlingham Castle

Headed for Alnwick where we explored every corner of Barter Books!  Wonderful Aladdin's cave of a book shop, based in the old railway station.  Spent ages in there and didn't come away empty handed either!  Could have spent a fortune  . . .  Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Another place worth a visit is Edlingham Castle, a very ruined fortified mid 12th century house, with a 1340s tower which is leaning at a worryingly wayward angle!  It's up on the Alnwick moors and is a great place to explore, no entry fee either!  Incredible stonework, and being ruined, it's super being able to see how it was put together all those years ago.
