Belstone Tor, Dartmoor

I couldn't decide whether to go on the Dartmoor walk with the local group today, mainly because of the bad weather that was forecast.  Well as you can see I decided to brave the rain and experience Dartmoor along with 6 others.  This shows part of Belstone Tor.

We started from the delightful village of Belstone which sits right on the edge of the moor.  The circular walk followed the valley of the River Tor, climbing to the White Hill stone circle by Little Hound Tor, then on to Hound Tor, Higher Tor and Belstone Tor, descending via the nine stones cairn circle into Belstone.  We had two small river crossings and came across one brave fell runner while we sheltered in a small roofless stone hut for lunch.   The area looks like it it deserves revisiting in good weather for its wonderful views.  We ended up the day with the customary cup of tea in the local pub.
