Goodbye, Cilla!

Early this morning crowds began to gather in Liverpool to show their respects (or spot a celeb?) on the day of Cilla Black's funeral. A BBC nerd, trained to recognise such things, observed "there's an undertone of sadness here today"!

There was an undertone of desperation chez nous as I scurried around my boxes of 'stuff' searching to locate my copies of Fab magazine from 1964. At 1/- (one shilling) a time, I only ever afforded four copies - all of which included the Beatles - but the copies are still intact today as I couldn't bear to cut them up to remove the pin-ups. And now the staples have rusted into postition to hold the pages in place in perpetuity.

So here's Cilla in February '64, at a time when Ringo Starr called her 'Swingin' Cyril', and she, apparently, 'digged' ('dug'?) their style. As she's being buried in a small cemetery alongside her parents' grave, some folk must have been very recently digging (for) Cilla.

RIP lovely woman!
