The North face of the Matterhorn

Quite probably the most iconic mountain in the world - and looking totally resplendent with a fresh coating of snow - much more 'usual' than the bare rock face that greeted us two weeks ago when we walked into Zermatt.

At present celebrations are ongoing to mark the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn, the most pleasing (to me) is the illumination of the Hornli Ridge at night with a succession of lights visible from the village that climb the mountain over a ten minute period.
Sadly I don't have the skill or equipment to capture that sight, so instead I offer a daytime view from the Zmutt Valley.
