Shaggy donkey

These are adorable animals, if a little whiffy (or these were).  A special breed of donkey from the Ile de Re. Their shaggy coats somehow give them a even more forlorn look than a normal donkey.
On the island they used to be given special trousers to protect their legs working in the salt pans. Or that's how the story goes....
