Coastal flora

Have had plenty of walks this week along the coast and have enjoyed seeing lots of different flowers and fauna.

Rain again here but I wanted to capture an area that we have walked near earlier in the week I know this is yellow bracken. Less confident about the purple flowering plant that looks in the distance like heather but on closer inspection resembles thyme but the leaves give off no aroma.

I've brought my wildflower identification booklet with me but can't find it! Any suggestions most welcome!
