Kanal ob Soči

We had early starts today and I had a good run, with only a minor error in tough terrain. However, others did better and I went down to fourth place. It was a reasonable day so we went down to the Tolmin gorges where the Tolminke river and the Zadlaščice meet. We had a good walk and then came back down the Soča to the town of Kanal ob Soči. It’s a lovely old town with a bridge over the river from which there are diving competitions each August. It is 23 metres to the river, which is cutting through the bedrock and must be very deep. This is the view from the west side. The extra blip is of the 2 bridges across the Soča at Nova Gorica. The railway bridge has the longest stone arch in the world.
