I Love Shell Bay.

Got back from Deal in time for the races at Salisbury. Was in need of a winner. First race got it all wrong, lady jockey`s only, picked the prettiest instead of a horse -- disaster. Second race -- just awful, hopeless. Missed third race -- went to regroup at the Pimms tent. Fourth race -- terrible, must have had a `brain fade` to have backed that one. Fifth race (never stay for the last one), put a pony on Shell Bay(2) at 3 to 1.  I knew if it was anywhere near the lead at the half furlong it would win.
And the colt duly did. American horse, trained by top man Richard Hannon at Marlborough, ridden by Pat Dobbs.
Cheque for £4051 to owners, plus extra oats for Shell Bay and haddock, chips, mushy peas for me.
