Inver

Inver Cottage has been a good restaurant for all the 23 years we have lived in Argyll.

It is only twenty minutes away from Glendaruel so we would usually go there a few times a year for special events like birthdays or for the fireworks or Christmas film shows they used to put on.

This year however it has new tenants and it is very different. We were meant to be there in June but had to cancel as I was ill. Cathleen , Cailean & I went two weeks ago for my birthday and although it was good I wasn't sure it justified the exceptional reviews some have given it.

Tonight though we went with close friends Jeane Freeman & Susan Stewart and it was exceptional. The tasting menu is quirky , ambitious and painstaking and the ingredients offered are eclectic. All that however makes the food superb.

This is the plate as served before cold cucumber soup is poured in. Some of the items are foraged and some purchased. All the parts fit together well and are delicious.
