Footdee

We spent a few hours in Aberdeen today before heading to the airport to catch our flight back south at 6:30 pm. We stopped for  while at Footdee (know locally as "Fittie"), a tiny old fishing village at the east end of the harbour. It was build between 1837 and 1855 in a rigid grid arrangement with the squares between the houses filled with rows of outhouses or 'tarry sheds'.  Both houses and sheds can be seen in this photo along with structures arising from Aberdeen's more recent association with the oil industry. It's always interesting to see old and new in such close, and not entirely attractive, proximity.
