Seed Bank

An exciting visit today to the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst Place. This is an international conservation project coordinated by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
The idea is to have an insurance policy against the extinction of plants in the wild by storing seeds for future use.
So far there are about 2 billion seeds, stored in underground vaults at below 20 degrees centigrade.
Cool!
