Emperor Dragonfly

Out walking at Dabton Loch in Thornhill, near where I live, and was despairing of finding any inspiration for photos. I seem to have hit a mental block - hence no blips for weeks !
I was just leaving when I spotted a couple of these flitting around the waters edge. I didn't have my macro lens with me, just my bridge camera but managed to get close enough to snap its beautiful colours.
