A Joyous Day!

I spent nearly all day with my mate Joy. We were long overdue a good catch up, and as she fell off her horse last Thursday and has hurt her knee, I volunteered to be her chauffeur for the day. We started out at Barton Marina, not so much interested in the barges as the award winning hot chocolate served at the café there. Oh, and the ice cream.

As it was quite hot sitting outside, we moved onto a nearby pub for a cooling ginger beer, over which we decided it would be a good idea to go back to Joys as she had some cake there to eat up. Well, I couldn't leave her to finish it up alone could I? So back to hers for cake and coffee, cos that's what friends are for.

Next we went to the stables ( my morning job ) where a jumping competition was being held. Watched a couple of the classes, took a few photos and then the heavens opened, so there was a bit of a break til the downpour passed. It was over in about 10 mins, but we were subjected to heavy showers all afternoon and evening after that.

Next port of call was to see Joy's horse, Derby, to give her her tea, and poo pick her paddock, before the next rain shower. Luckily, Joy's friend Jo also keeps her horse there ( and had just been at the show ) so she helped pick up poo and push the wheel barrow ( well, it is my day off! ).

Next, back to Joy's, who's hubby was back home from watching footie at a local social club he helps run. We had a Chinese takeaway for dinner and watched the England v France warm up game ( for the World Cup ) - England only actually turned up for the last 12 mins, otherwise they might have won. As it was, France managed to scrape a 25 -20 win ... I'm hoping England manage to turn up on time to the games that count.

Home at 10pm, too dark to see how much damage the storm has done, but beans and tomatoes look battered.

Posting this late ( it's Sunday already! ) so should get some sleep as I'm booked to give Derby a bit of exercise tomorrow, meeting in 9hrs time!

My extra is my boss taking a picture of the winners of the pairs competition about to be photo bombed by another horse and rider - The resulting photo came out great!
