Poffertje in the making, in The Hague.

After a splendid morning at the Escher Museum in The Hague, Michiel took us for 'poffertje'.
In the cafe is a huge griddle full of small depressions, used to make these mini pancakes so beloved of the Dutch. The little depressions were oiled, and then batter is dropped, at great speed, into the smoking hot oil, and dozens of these fantastic little sweatmeats are made in just a few minutes.
Then, they're liberally sprinkled, lathered, with icing sugar, and drunk with lots of good coffee. Yumm.
