Wild Slumber.....

A peaceful shot of a sleeping cat's paws.....or is it? It is a sleeping cat but not of the domestic variety. It's a Europen Wildcat and unfortunately is not in the wild anymore. But fortunately it's currently housed, with her offspring, at a local wild animal rescue centre - Gentleshaw - just outside a small town near me called Eccleshall. It's a dedicated, family run charity and was set up in the early 1990s.

They have an eclectic mix of animals which have come from rather awful circumstances, and they do thrive here. I last visited about 8 years ago when I brought my dad on a bird handling and flying day for his 70th birthday. Some of those very birds are still here.
